Another part of my childhood ended with the announcement overnight of the passing of the original Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew. Chewbacca was one of the most beloved Star Wars characters, appearing in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, and The Force Awakens.A few years ago I had the privilege of hearing him speak when he appeared at a pop culture convention in my city. Perhaps the next Star Wars movie, The Rise of Skywalker, will be dedicated to his memory.
