Is attention to detail mandatory?

Do you want to work for the Australian Bureau of Statistics on the 2026 national census? You will see from the above screen grab that both full-time and part-time "pours" are available to successful applicants. Does this refer to complimentary tea, coffee, or other beverages whilst on duty?

 

Decluttering

As anybody who is familiar with medical jargon knows, an EN is an Enrolled Nurse. Some of them are medication endorsed, which means they are trained to administer medication to patients. I have never heard of a "Mediacation" endorsement.

Is this something along the same lines as a media detox, in which people take a break from using smart phones, tablets, computers, watching television, or playing video games? If so, that can only be a good thing. 

Executive overreach

I don't have much regard for the current Victorian state government, with its agenda of radical social engineering, attempting to regulate public morality with heavy handed advertising campaigns, and questionably administered major infrastructure projects, but I digress. If you want to work for them, this position may be of interest to you. 

Either there is a typo in this job advertisement, or some boffin in the Education Department has created a new portmanteau. In this role, you work as an Executive Assistant, and the work is exciting, hence the word "Execitive." If this is the case, I'll bet they'll be inundated with applications. 

Stale bread

The name of the business in question has been erased from the screen capture. I hope that the quality of their bakery goods is better than their spelling and grammar ability.

Submit your timesheet

No sour grapes. I can spell. I can proof read. I have used these skills to check over important documents that were submitted to federal government agencies. I have also proof read several books that were published, usually uncredited. You would think that these are all marketable skills. Perhaps this employer might think so too.

Highly improper

I wonder if the recruitment process for this position will include spelling and punctuation tests? It is ironic that a job advertisement for a position at the Victorian Department of Education and Training contains a grammatical error. Every English teacher worth their salt knows that a possessive apostrophe is never added to a proper noun. 

Eyes like a hawk

Far be it from me to besmirch a prospective employer, but it doesn't fill you with much confidence in their professionalism and attention to detail, when one of their job advertisement has not one, but two glaring typographical errors in it.
