Ah, feel the tolerance

Earlier today it was announced that Robert Trump, younger brother of American President Donald Trump, had passed away, days after being hospitalised in New York.

Predictably, Trump's multitude of social media opponents used social media to start a "Wrong Trump" Twitter tag. In other words, they wished that Donald Trump had died instead of his brother.

The heated world of social media has been significant in spreading irrational hatred of and vitriol towards Trump from the radical left, commonly referred to by some commentators as Trump Derangement Syndrome. Such is their passion that they see fit to attack the man at every opportunity. It doesn't seem to occur to them that you can disagree with someone's politics without resorting to nauseating and immature personal attacks.

Hit piece

American Vice President, Mike Pence is well known for being a devoted and faithful husband and father. As a college student, he dobbed in his fraternity brothers for bringing a beer keg into their frat house. His college banned student alcohol use on campus. Big deal. Does he also leave the toilet seat up, or throw out toothpaste tubes before they were properly empty?

Sad news

Senator John McCain
American Senator John McCain has had surgery to remove a brain tumor. He will also require further cancer treatment. This is sad news. I have followed McCain's career since 2000, and he recently visited Australia. He met with senior figures of the Australian government, and addressed the United States Study Centre at the University of Sydney. He strikes me as a decent man.

How much can a koala bear?

Caramello Koala. Not a bear.
Here's how Reuters reported on US Vice President Mike Pence's visit to Australia. Pence, his wife Karen, and daughters visited Sydney's Taronga Zoo, and met some native animals. This included a koala, which the Reuters article erroneously described as a bear. As I distinctly remember learning in primary school, koalas are marsupials, not bears.
