Conceded pass

This article appeared in my Apple News feed today. It tracks the rise and fall of tech companies such as Blockbuster Video, Minolta, Kodak, Palm, and Polaroid. Such is the pace of technological change, that those companies that fail to adapt and innovate often fall by the wayside. I used to rent movies from Blockbuster, use Kodak film, and backup files on Zip drives.

If this site is any indication, despite advances in online publishing, spell checkers are still not quite a match for a good pair of human eyes. I was distracted by words missing from sentences, so that they did not make sense, missing commas, incorrectly used apostrophes, using the plural form of a noun instead of a singular possessive noun, and easily avoidable spelling errors. What on earth is the "mite of Google?

Mites can be an occupational hazard. Google should make sure that they keep them out of their data centres.
