Of slight interest to the author, and negligible interest to anyone else

This post is in honour of Zenodotus of Ephesus. If the websites I looked up on him are reliable sources of information, then he has the distinction of not only being the first superintendent of the Library of Alexandria, but also the first librarian.

Although I'm reluctant to cite a Wikipedia article as a reference, you can read about his work here, and his groundbreaking approach to information organisation by classifying papyri by its subject. In so doing he laid the foundation for successive generations of librarians to follow.
