The miserly frugal Scots can be relied upon to deliver a cost effective Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2026. Victoria, Australia was the original host, but had to relinquish them, citing unforseen cost blowouts. Glasgow is planning to offset part of the cost of staging the event by using the millions of dollars in compensation that the Victorian government had to pay to the Commonwealth Games Federation.
