Extinction down under

Despite it becoming extinct in 1936, the Tasmanian tiger is used to attract tourists to the Apple Isle, and as the mascot of Cascade Beer. According to a story in today's Guardian Australia, Australia's National Film and Sound Archive released newly discovered film footage of the last surviving Tasmanian tiger, in captivity in the Hobart Zoo. The story erroneously describes the footage as video footage. This is incorrect, because video cameras did not become a mass market product until the 1980s.
