Fairfax Media, publisher of The Age, is going to merge with Nine Entertainment, owners of Channel Nine, to create a new company encompassing print, digital, free to air television, and streaming services. While am I not a business analyst, it seems to me that Fairfax had no choice but to take this step, with declining circulation and advertising revenues. As sad it is for the Fairfax name to disappear, the alternative would have been for the company to down altogether.
