Not good

It is a little disheartening that this sort of thing can happen in the UK. After all, Britain has such a rich literary culture. Even so, it seems that in these difficult economic times cuts have to be made, and libraries are not immune from this. On the other hand, it's one thing for libraries and librarians to adapt to the new digital world, but another to cut them ruthlessly.
