Mockery for fun and profit
It seems that most people who audition for talent shows fall under one of three categories. Firstly we have those who have at least some discernible talent in at least one branch of the performing arts. Secondly, we have those who are under the delusion that they are talented, resulting in them being humiliated on national television. Thirdly, there are those who audition for a lark or a dare, and clearly don't take themselves or the show seriously. This gem from 2003 is from the first series of Australian Idol, which spawned the likes of Guy Sebastian, Shannon Noll, Rob Mills, plus a few others who have since faded into obscurity, and are destined to end up in a "where are they now" article in Who magazine.
